TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - An old bridge came crumbling down Wednesday.
KDOT crews imploded the old U.S. 77 Big Blue River Bridge.
The structural steel on the bridge was blown off Wednesday, but the bridge piers remain in place and will be removed within the coming weeks.
The work is part of a $7.6 million bridge replacement project.
The new U.S. 77 Big Blue River Bridge -- featuring wider lanes and shoulders -- opened in October.
The entire project is scheduled to be complete at the end of December.
