TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)__The 2013 National Truck Driving Championships winning team from Kansas were recognized at the KCC Thursday.
Eight professional truck drivers stood out for their performance in the trucking industry. Jeff Davis, David Eckles Jr., Stanley Gabbard, Gary Harms, Dan Jones, David Knight, Don Logan and Jeff Thompson all have a years worth of accident free driving. Their miles combined would stretch over the whole world numerous times.
The Kansas Team is compiled of drivers from Wal-Mart Transportation of Ottawa, Old Dominion Freight Lines of Spring Hill, UPS Freight of Kansas City, Wal-Mart Transportation of Olathe, Fed Ex Freight of Topeka, Fed Ex Freight of Eskridge and Fed Ex Freight of Olathe.
Gary Harms of Wal-Mart Transportation of Olathe was also recognized for being the 2013 Bendix National Truck Driving Championships Grand Champion. He ranked first in the Sleeper Berth Class. He has over 30 years of driver experience with nearly 2 million miles logged. He competed against 422 drivers from all over the U.S.
Dan Jones of Fed Ex Freight of Topeka took third place in the Straight Truck Class.
Don Logan, Fed Ex Freight of Eskridge was a finalist in the Flatbed category. He took the Top Vehicle Inspection Award and received a perfect score on the written exam.
Jeff Thompson of Fed Ex Freight of Olathe was a finalist in the 3-Axle category. He also received a perfect score on the written exam.
