JEFFERSON COUNTY, Kan. (WIBW)--On Monday, April 1, weather permitting, a project will begin to reconstruct the wing walls on a reinforced concrete bridge located on K-4 just north of the 150th Street intersection in Valley Falls (Jefferson County). Crews will work during daylight hours from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with some occasional Saturday work.
Work will take place on the highway right of way and will not impact the travelling public. Traffic will be alerted to the project via signage and cones on the shoulder right of way. Drivers should expect little to no delays on K-4 during the project duration.
The Kansas Department of Transportation urges all motorists to be alert, obey the warning signs, and “Give ‘Em a Brake!” when approaching and driving through the project work zone.
Reece Construction Company, Inc. (Scandia, KS) is the primary contractor on this bridge repair project with a total contract cost of $67,905. The scheduled completion date for the bridge repair project is late April 2013, weather permitting.
This project is funded by T-WORKS, the transportation program passed by the Kansas Legislature in May 2010. Find out more about this and other T-WORKS projects at: http://kdotapp.ksdot.org/TWorks/.
