Jones Announces Shawnee Co. Undersheriff Pick
TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- Shawnee County Sheriff Herman Jones has selected Terry L. Maple to serve as undersheriff.
Maple recently served as the Chief Deputy Fire Marshal for the Kansas Fire Marshal's Office. Prior to serving in the State Fire Marshal's Office, Maple completed a 32-year career with the Kansas Highway Patrol, retiring as Superintendent in 2011.
Maple will be formally introduced during an announcement scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Shawnee County Sheriff's Office in Topeka.
Kansas Law requires newly elected sheriffs to attend two weeks of training at the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center in Hutchinson. Jones and Maple started training Monday, and will continue until Dec. 14.
