TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - The Jayhawk State Theatre invited patrons of the cinematic arts on a roadshow of the Tallgrass Film Festival right here in Topeka.

The Jayhawk Theatre Restoration Project screened a series of award-winning short films, including several by Kansas filmmakers Saturday afternoon at the Governor's Row House on 811 SW Buchanan Street.

It was a fundraising effort as well as a taste of things to come.

"The Jayhawk is going to be the center for film and concerts, dance and performances from all around Northeast Kansas. And film is an integral part of that, art film, film series, silent film festivals, so it's a great fit for us," Jeff Carson, Vice President of the Jayhawk's Board of Directors, said.

Patrons got to meet with board members over free popcorn and a cash bar.

If you missed the matinee show, you can still snag a seat for Saturday evening's film program at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $20 dollars per person, available at the door at 811 SW Buchanan.
