TOPEKA Kansas (WIBW) -- A report of slashed tires in Holton Tuesday morning led to a police chase that lasted well into Shawnee Co., according to the Jackson Co. Sheriff's Office.

The driver in the chase, 41 year-old Joseph Swazey, was arrested after a Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP) officer used a pit maneuver to run his truck off the road at an exit ramp near Highway 24 and Highway 75.

The sheriff's office said it all began when Jackson Co. deputies went to a home north of Holton where someone who lived there said their tires were slashed. Deputies spotted the suspect's truck near Jackson Heights and he refused to pull over.

The pursuit eventually stretched into Shawnee Co., where officers with KHP and the Topeka Police Dept. joined in the chase.

Swazey was arrested on charges of felony fleeing and eluding as well as a warrant for stalking. More charges are pending.

No one was hurt in the pursuit.
