JUNCTION CITY, Kan. (WIBW) -- A Junction City man is facing child abuse and aggravated battery charges after police say he scalded his 10-month-old stepson in the bathtub.

Ryan Lee Perry, 21, was arrested at the Junction City Police Department by detectives on Thursday, October 25, 2012.

Last week, officials say Perry’s stepson was taken to Geary Community Hospital and then transferred to Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City with second degree burns.

According to Lt. Jeff Childs, commander of the JCPD’s Investigations Division, police believe the baby was set in hot bath water, leaving him with multiple burns.

The child has since been released from the hospital.

Childs had no comment when asked if the baby has been placed in protective custody.

Geary County jail officials identified Perry as a Fort Riley soldier.

According to the 1st Infantry Division's Public Affairs Office, Perry is a specialist and is assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 34th Armored Regiment, 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division. He is an infantryman.
