TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - The Shawnee County Sheriff's Office continues investigating an accident that seriously injured a worker at a Topeka recycling facility.
Robert Lawrenz was injured Saturday at Bailey's Recycling, 4120 NE Seward Ave.
Authorities say Lawrenz was inside a truck that was about to be recycled when it was grabbed with a grappling hook. Sgt. Todd Stallbaumer with the sheriff's office says they are investigating the incident as a workplace accident. He says the machine operator did not believe the truck was occupied when he grabbed it.
Stormont-Vail officials told us Tuesday that Lawrenz was discharged from the hospital, but clarified Wednesday that he was transferred to another facility to continue treatment.
