TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Inmate artwork is on display at theCcapitol building.

More than 50 pieces created by adult and juvenile offenders in the Kansas Department of Corrections and Juvenile Justice Authority were featured during Friday's First Friday Art Walk.

The collection includes paintings, drawings, leather, fabric and wood crafts.

Some inmates included messages on their creations expressing regret for crimes, the hurt they feel for being separated from their loved ones, and thankfulness for personal growth.

One piece even serves as a memorial to the victims of the Newtown, CT shooting.

If you missed the display during the Art Walk, the pieces will be on show until April12th on the first floor of the Capitol.
