SALINA, Kan. (KAKE) -- A Saline County Jail inmate is facing additional charges after authorities say he smuggled prescription drugs into the jail using his artificial leg.

The Hutch Post reports 33-year-old Christopher Lee Jones was booked into the jail March 14 on a probation violation. Sheriff Glen Kochanowski said a deputy noticed that Jones was slurring his speech when complaining about not receiving his breakfast Sunday morning.

The sheriff tells the Hutch Post that officers soon learned that Jones brought drugs into the jail inside of his artificial leg and that he had shared some of those drugs with other inmates. Jones is charged with drug possession, drug distribution, and trafficking and distribution of contraband in a correctional facility.
