TOPEKA, Kan, (WIBW)-- Major traffic snafus will continue so the downtown highway repairs can be completed before the end of 2014.
The eastbound lanes of I-70 has been temporarily converted to two way traffic and will be used for both Eastbound and Westbound traffic so the regular westbound lanes can repaired or replaced.
This detour will cause major congestion and significant delays for highway traffic.
The downtown section was first constructed almost 50 years ago, plus the Polk-Quincy Viaduct structure will need major replacement in the near future.
