Valley Falls, Kan. (WIBW) - A man was accidentally shot when he was walking back to his car after finishing deer hunting for the day.
The shooting happened around 11:45 a.m. Saturday when 51-year-old MIchael Gaddis was walking back to his vehicle. He was struck in the back of his legs by birdshot from a shotgun.
Gaddis transported himself to Atchison County Memorial Hospital for injuries that are not considered to be life threatening.
The shooting happened at the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks Public Hunting Area west of Valley Falls.
Officers from the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks along with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office are conducting the investigation.
