TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- Officials are investigating a Wednesday mid morning house fire in SE Shawnee Co.

Seven fire companies were needed to put out this blaze in the 8500 block of SE Adams.

The blaze was reported just after 9:30 a.m. and Shawnee Heights fire fighters had it contained in just under an hour.

Crews reported that the house was fully involved in flames when they arrived.

A couple and a dog lived inside the home, they were not in the home at the time of the fire. They lost everything and the home is a total loss. The owner of the home, Bret Henderson, was not home at the time of the fire. His sister is taking donations to help him out. If you want to help, you can drop off donations, like toothpaste, food, and men's clothing - socks, size 34/34 jeans and large shirts at 1003 SE 85th St.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
