Murdered Topekan Was Long Time Boss Hawg's Cook

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW-TV) -- A man is dead after being shot at his home during a Thursday morning home invasion.

The shooting was reported at 6:35 a.m. at a residence located at 447 NE Arter.

A spokesperson for the Topeka Police department said that when officers arrived, they found a resident of the home, Juan Solis, age 29 of Topeka, with a life-threatening gunshot wound to the chest.

AMR arrived to the scene and Solis was pronounced dead a short time later.

Police are looking for three suspects, said to be black males. All were wearing masks and fled the home in an unknown direction after the crime happened.

One other adult and four children were in the home at the time of the invasion. They were not injured.

According to information posted on the Boss Hawg's Facebook page, Solis was a long time cook at the popular restaurant. The following was posted Thursday:

Today, Boss Hawg's and Pigskin's has lost a long-time member of our family, J.P. Solis. He has worked for us for eleven years and was responsible for much of the food you have enjoyed over the years. He leaves behind a wife and three young children, for whom we are accepting donations at the cashier's stand. Saturday will be a fundraiser day--10% of all sales will be donated to his family, so please, come and show your support for J.P. and those he leaves behind. We thank you for your support and understanding as our family says good-bye to J.P.
