HOLTON, Kan. (WIBW)-- Officials are investigating what made a woman jump from a moving vehicle late Thursday night.

Jackson County Sheriff Tim Morse says 38-year-old Frederick Pearson from Missouri told authorities he stopped just before 11:00 p.m. to help a woman he saw jumping in and out of traffic north of Holton on highway 75.

Pearson told authorities he drove the woman into Holton, where she jumped from his moving vehicle in front of the entrance to Walmart.

Emergency responders found Korri Jean Groves, 32, of Topeka, unconscious but breathing, no additional information about her condition is available at this time.

Morse said Groves had been staying at a home north of Holton and they continue to investigate the incident.
