TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- 1,307 motorists were assisted by Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP) Troopers over the holiday weekend, according to a report released Monday.
The holiday weekend activity report released by KHP details citations and other activities by the patrol from 6:00 p.m. Nov. 21 through 11:59 p.m. on Nov. 25.
Information is compared to 2011’s Thanksgiving holiday weekend data, which is for the same reporting period, 6:00 p.m. the Wednesday before the holiday, until 11:59 p.m. the Sunday following the holiday.

During the holiday weekend, the Patrol and other local agencies participated in the Special Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP). The Kansas Department of Transportation provided a grant for the additional enforcement.
