HOLTON, Kan. (WIBW) -- US-75 between 246 Road and 254 Road reopened to traffic around 2pm Monday. It had been closed most of the day due to a fatal traffic incident involving a semi and another vehicle.

Officials say the accident happened about 8:40 a.m. Monday (10/08). The semi was northbound on Highway 75 when it was hit by a van head-on, after the van crossed the center line. The driver of the van died at the scene. He has been identified as Michael McCrory, 35, of Holton.

The driver of the semi has been identified as a Nebraska man. Officials say he took himself to the hospital with minor injuries.

Kansas Department of Transportation closed the highway as of 9:00 a.m., two miles north of Holton. The highway was expected to be closed until 12:30 p.m. as Kansas Highway Patrol Accident Reconstruction worked the scene.

Traffic detoured off US-75 at 246 Road, east to Old US-75, north to 254 Road, then back to US-75.
