TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-Helping Hands Humane Society needs your helping hands.
Keaton Brewster and his family are hoping to add a furry friend to their bunch. They met a dog named Dandelion at Helping Hands Humane Society in Topeka. Keaton says he wants to adopt a dog with certain qualities.
"One that is big enough to play with and stuff outside, but calm enough, you know, to stay calm inside, " said Brewster.
However, Helping Hands Humane Society may need more helping hands. Margaret Price, Director of Animal Welfare, says the facility has more than 500 animals and they take in anywhere from 100 to 200 animals per week.
"We sure are at full capacity right now," says Price.
Price says they haven't had to euthanize any animals for space yet, but they are hopeful that community members will come in to adopt.
"We have a great selection. We have purebreds to mixed breeds, to puppies and kittens to adult dogs, we got what you want, so just come out and see us," says Price.
Whether Keaton chooses Dandelion or another dog, he says he plans to adopt and he wants other families to follow in his footsteps.
"Obviously it would really suck to have for them to have to put the animals down because there's too many. It would be good if people came out and adopted," said Brewster.
