TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)- A Washburn Rural High School graduate has gracefully danced into the hearts of millions of viewers across America.

"So You Think You Can Dance" competitor Hayley Erbert is in Los Angeles rehearsing for the show's finale.

Topeka native Hayley Erbert has been dancing across the So You Think You Can Dance stage for several weeks. Viewers all over the nation have watched and her friends have as well.

"We used to watch So You Think You Can Dance together, so it was so crazy to see her on television," said Hayley's friend, Blair Armstrong.

Hayley's bold dance moves received high marks from the judges. She made it through several rounds which came as no surprise to her mother.

"The first time I put her in tap and jazz, she just... that was it! She just knew that that's what she wanted to do," says Debbie Schwartz as she holds back tears.

After making it to the top 3 girls in the competition, Hayley was eliminated in the final 6, but that hasn't stopped Hayley's friends from wearing their "Team Hayley" shirts. They say they loved watching every step of her journey.

"Every routine she did, she nailed it," says Armstrong.

"Her being in the top 3 girls in the nation is completely ridiculous," says Hayley's friend, Mackenzie Morrison.

Hayley danced at Dance Factory in Topeka for many years before dancing at studios in Kansas City. Now, she is in Los Angeles rehearsing for the show's finale.

"She killed it on the show and she makes Topeka so proud," says Armstrong.

"Yeah, she's awesome. I'm so proud of her, it was amazing to see how much she improved, even though she is already incredible. She's awesome and we love her," says Morrison.

Hayley's talents will open many doors as she travels across the country with the So You Think You Can Dance team on tour and her mother says she looks forward to what Hayley will do next.

"I'm proud to say that she was able to represent Topeka and the Midwest as one of the dancers!" smiles Schwartz.

Hayley will be on the So You Think You Can Dance finale on Tuesday and starts preparing for the nation wide tour on Wednesday.

Hayley's mother told 13 News that 18-year-old Hayley was planning to attend Chapman University in Orange, California with a dancing scholarship and major in Performing Arts, however those plans are on hold now that she is going on tour with the So You Think You Can Dance team.
