Men and women athletes had fun on the hard wood Saturday in a friendly competition.
Hayden High school hosted its 4th Annual Special Olympics Topeka Invitational Basketball tournament Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 .pm.
Admission was free and Hayden players from both men's and women's teams worked during the tournament serving as officials and score keepers.
Volunteers and parents say its a great way to get involved in the community, while special olympic athletes told 13 news what they like about the tournament most.
"I like to have fun with friends and hopefully make some baskets!," laughed Josh Alters.
"I like to socialize because I am a social butterfly," said special olympic athlete, Allison Nichols.
Two long time managers of the men's basketball team Kevin Johnson and Jerry Henson were also honored for their support and dedication for the special olympics.
