TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- An expansion project at an Elementary School north of Topeka is officially underway.
The USD 345 Seaman Board of Education celebrated with a groundbreaking at Elmont Elementary.
The project will add seven classrooms, a gymnasium and secure entrance to the building.
The addition is part of the district's $57 million bond referendum in 2013.
It also will fund a new middle school and additions to several other elementary schools.
Teachers and community members were involved in the final design for the expansion.
