TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - The Governor hosted the third annual Kansas Hanukkah Celebration Thursday evening.

Area leaders joined Governor Brownback at the State Capitol for the eighth night of Hanukkah.

It's the first time the event was held at the Capitol -- it was previously held at Cedar Crest.

Brownback lit the menorah with Lt. Col. Moran Omer of the Israel Defense Force, Specialist Eliezer Goldblatt of the 1st Infantry Division and representatives from Jewish communities across the state.

Rabbis Zalman Tiechtel and Mendy Wineberg conducted the ceremony.

Thursday's event was sponsored by the Chabad of Kansas.
