Governor Brownback Leads Growth Tour On Motorcycle

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- Governor Sam Brownback (R-Kan.); Lt. Governor Jeff Colyer, M.D.; U.S. Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins and other Kansas Republicans joined others at the Kansas GOP Headquarters, 2605 SW 21st St., Thursday morning for the kick off of the Road Map for Growth Tour.

The two-day tour is scheduled to make 11 stops across the state. Weather permitting, Gov. Brownback and others will travel by motorcycle. Brownback arrived to and left Thursday's kick off on motorcycle.

The tour promotes Republican GOP candidates for the U.S. House and state Legislature. Among the targets are several Kansas Senate seats where Brownback has backed conservative Republicans.

Rep. Lynn Jenkins introduced Gov. Brownback Thursday at the kick-off. In his speech, the governor encouraged candidates, volunteers, and members of the GOP to finish the election strong.

"We got a lot of door-to-door, we got a lot of walking, got a lot of calling that needs to take place in between now and election day," Brownback said. "It's gonna be a great election. See us on through. Pray for your state. Pray for your country. And let's see it through to the finish."

The tour schedule shows stops in Leawood, Fort Scott, Frontenac, Pittsburg, Columbus and Independence on Thursday. Friday's stops include Independence, Winfield, Wichita, Hays and Salina.
