TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- Fire safety education and outstanding art were on the Governor's agenda at the Statehouse.
Governor Brownback and State Fire Marshall Doug Jergensen honored winners of the statewide Fire Prevention Week poster contest.
Mady Trower of Basehor took top honors among fourth thru sixth graders, while Holly Forge of Easton tied with Steven Baker of Shawnee for first in the k-thru-third category.
Steven was unable to attend. The contest is designed to support efforts of local fire departments.
This year's theme was, "Show What You Know About Fire Safety."
