Golf Event Raises Money In Honor Of Fallen Officers

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - People teed off Friday to support law enforcement and honor the memories of two officers killed in the line of duty.

Topeka Police Chief Ron Miller and Shawnee Co. District Attorney Chad Taylor were among those testing their skills in a benefit golf tournament at Shawnee Country Club.

The event was a joint effort of the Fraternal Order of Police Foundation and the fiance of Officer Jeff Atherly.

Atherly and Corporal David Gogian were killed in the line of duty in December. She wanted to honor them with a fundraiser to purchase more of the Axon camera systems. Officers wear the cameras on their vests while responding to incidents. It records the officer's actions and their interactions with people.
