Geary County Infant Dead, Parents Arrested

GEARY COUNTY, Kan. (WIBW)-- A pair of Geary County parents have been arrested on child abuse and aggravated battery charges following the death of their 8-month-old baby.

The child was treated for major injuries September 15, at Geary County Community Hospital's Emergency room, and then flown to Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City. The infant died on September 18, according to police.

Christopher Dale Lyman, 29, of Junction City, and Tammerisk Irene Lyman, 26, also of Junction City, have both been arrested on charges of Child Abuse and Aggravated Battery in connection with this case.

Mr. Lyman is currently confined in the Geary County Jail in lieu of a $1,000,000 bond. Mrs. Lyman is currently free on a $10,000 bond.

An autopsy was scheduled Thursday. This case is still under investigation and further information will be forwarded to the Geary County Attorney’s Office as it is received.
