TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-When the clock struck noon, it wasn't just a typical lunch day for Topekans.

"Well, we came because they were honoring the 2 cops that have been shot, so we just thought we could come her in honoring them," said Patrick Poole, Freddy's Frozen Custard customer.

Freddy's Frozen Custard off Wanamaker held a fundraiser to show support for Corporal David Gogian and Officer Jeff Atherly.

"We've done a fundraiser before, nothing as significant as this. So, I felt like if we will do them for softball teams, we should definitely do it for the officers and their families," said General Manager of Freddy's Frozen Custard, Jason Nolte.

Among the lunch-goers, were the police officers' co-workers.

"I'm actually a dispatcher with Shawnee County, so I was working the night all that happened and figured I'd show as much support as I can," said Nick Hall, Freddy's Frozen Custard customer.

Ten percent of Friday's sales will be donated to the officers' Memorial Funds. The turn out was tremendous. Even people who didn't personally know the officers say they can relate to the situation.

"We all have Dads, husbands, brothers and it really hit home for us. I think it also hit home because it was for us. They were protecting Topeka citizens," said Kaleigh Poole, Freddy's Frozen Custard customer.
