MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW)-A Fort Riley soldier and his wife welcomed a newborn into the world, but the surroundings weren't exactly what they'd planned!
Fort Riley solider Adam Vonroyen and his wife Jhonaby didn't expect they'd welcome their new baby girl in quite the way it unfolded.
"At 2 a.m., I'm the only one awake and everybody's sleeping, I didn't know it's time," says 28-year-old Jhonaby.
"I was washing the bottles and at 5:40 a.m. and she started yelling at me," says Adam.
"I said, 'the baby is about to come out!'", says Jhonaby.
"I picked her up and laid her on the floor and delivered the baby in my arms," says Adam.
Adam says in less than ten minutes, Ailanna made her grand entrance.
"Superdad! I guess not a lot of people can say they delivered their own kids in their home, " smiles Adam.
At 7 pounds 8 ounces, Ailanna is a happy, healthy baby girl.
"I was very proud and she wanted to make an appearance, " says Ailanna's father, Adam.
"It's like a memorable moment," says Jhonaby.
Adam says he learned how to deliver the baby by watching television shows. The couple's other three children are ages 11 months, and 6 and 8 years old and Johnoby says she likes to think of herself as a "supermom."
