RILEY COUNTY, Kan. (WIBW) -- A Fort Riley soldier is facing rape and molestation charges stemming of an alleged incident with a child.

Specialist George Ferenz, 29, was arrested on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at noon by Fort Riley military police on a $100,000 Riley County warrant charging him with one count of Rape, two counts of Aggravated Criminal Sodomy and two counts of Aggravated Indecent Liberties with a Child.

According to the warrant, the charges stem from an incident on October 21, 2012 in Riley County. Ferenz is alleged to have had sexual intercourse with a child under the age of 14. He is also accused of fondling and having oral sex with the child.

On Thursday, October 25, 2012, he remained confined in the Riley County Jail.

Riley County Attorney Barry Wilkerson declined to release any information on the case. He would not confirm whether the victim was a male or female or the victim's exact age. He also could not comment on whether or not the suspect and victim know each other.

Ferenz should make a first appearance at the Riley County Courthouse, Wilkerson said.

According to the 1st Infantry Division's Public Affairs Office, Ferenz is a tank crewman assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 34th Armor Regiment, 1st Armor Brigade Combat Team with the Big Red One at Fort Riley.

A booking photo of Ferenz from the Riley County Jail is not available as it is the Riley County Police Department's policy not to release mug shots.
