TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- More beautiful blooms will honor a former Shawnee County Commissioner.

He's also the former Shawnee County Parks Superintendent, Ted Ensley along with members of his family and volunteer groups were on hand to formally dedicate the Ted Ensley Gardens at Lake Shawnee.

The final structure in the garden master plan was completed last year.

Members of the commission also announced a new addition coming to the garden.

"It's the front door to the community, it's something that we're all so proud of, we have people come to our community and visit. We want a special place to take them too, beyond that we just want something that has that special meaning to each and every one of us," Ensley.

The new structure being built will help ensure the preservation of the gardens.
