TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - A famous face helped elementary school students start a new challenge.
Jared Fogle, the longtime Subway restaurants spokesperson, visited McCarter Elementary School Monday afternoon to kick off the chain's "Fresh Start Challenge." Over the next six weeks, students age five through 14 are invited to keep a journal of their healthy food intake and physical activity.
"Between all the video game playing, all the computer usage that kids like to do these days, watching tv and getting out of the cold, harsh winter that we've had here in this part of the country, hopefully getting into the spring time where it will be a little warmer will give the kids a chance to be a little more active outside," Fogle said of the challenge.
Children who track their health for two of the six weeks of the challenge can enter a drawing to win a $1,000 fitness grant for their school and a $250 Subway gift card.
