EMPORIA, Kan. (WIBW) - Emporia State University had many things to celebrate Monday.

They hosted a general assembly to not only kick off the spring semester, but also celebrate the University's 150th anniversary. The University opened in 1863 as Kansas State Normal School.

The Educational Theatre Company performed a short play to start the assembly. The performance compared the Kansas State Normal School to that of Emporia State.

President Michael Shonrock then talked about accomplishments during the fall semester and looked ahead to the spring semester.
