Early Morning Fire Ravages Empty House

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW-TV) -- Authorities say that the house that caught fire early Monday morning was empty.

Shawnee County Dispatch told 13 News that firefighters were called to the the 100 block of SW Hillside Drive around 6:00 a.m. Monday.

Firefighters reported smoke in the area when they arrived on scene, they were able to get the blaze under control around 20 minutes after they arrived.

They also confirmed the house was empty at the time of the fire; no injuries were reported.

The cause and origin of the fire is under investigation.
