TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Two people escaped injury when a driver fell asleep at the wheel and rolled his van on I-70.
Shawnee County dispatch says authorities responded just before 10 am Friday to westbound I-70, just west of Carlson Road.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says the driver told troopers he fell asleep, went off the road and hit a sign. The van rolled and a small fire broke out under the hood. KHP says the driver extinguished the fire before emergency responders arrived.
Authorities say the driver and the passenger were both wearing seatbelts. Neither was injured.
