TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- High speeds and slick road conditions seem to be the cause of one accident near Washburn University.

Around 3:55 p.m. officers say a silver vehicle was traveling northbound on Washburn when it lost control, struck a telephone pole, and hit an oncoming green SUV.

Police were forced to extricate the driver of the green SUV from the vehicle and take them to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the silver vehicle did not need medical attention...

Officers believe speed and wet roads were a factor.
