TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- Downtown Topeka Inc is planning ahead.
Officials announced parts of the $2.1 million downtown redevelopment project that will start in the coming months.
Infrastructure work on the east side of Kansas Avenue will begin in 2014, with work on the west side starting in 2015. Private sector enhancements will begin shortly afterwards.
"We'll see pocket parks, we'll see mid-block arches, pavilions, we'll see art work, we'll see a little bit of history of who we are as a community up and down Kansas Avenue," Vince Fry, President and CEO, Downtown Topeka, Inc.
The area will become more pedestrian friendly with more dining, retail and entertainment options available.
