TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Woodcuts from a Yucatan artist are on display right now at the Mulvane Art Museum at Washburn University.
The art, made by Alberto Garcia M., depicts Dia de los Muertos festivities.
The university hosted a reception Friday evening, followed by a lecture by Gregorio Luke, an expert on Mexican and Latin American art and culture.
Day of the Dead traditions honor the deceased and often include families building and decorating private altars for those who have died.
The holiday coincides with All Saints' Day on November first and All Souls' Day on November 2nd.
The woodcuts will be on display through November 23rd.
