Despite The Winter Weather, Americans Will Travel The Friendly Skies

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- Despite the winter weather, millions of Americans are expected hit the friendly skies this long holiday season.

According to the industry trade organization, Airlines for America, approximately 44 million passengers nationwide will be flying during the 21 day holiday travel period.

A4A expects the number of passengers traveling from December 16th through January 5th to increase by 2% from 2012.

Planes are expected to be 80 to 90% full on the busiest travel days, which are expected to be December 26th, 27th and January 3rd.

It is crucial to check flight status before heading to the airport, especially during times of inclement weather.
