DENISON, Kan. (WIBW) -- Firefighters battled heavy plumes of smoke at a Denison bar on Sunday night.

Officials say the Racks and Reels Bar and Grill, at 201 Central, in Denison, caught fire after 6:00 p.m. Sunday.

Jackson County Sheriff Tim Morse says Denison, Mayetta, Hoyt and Valley Falls fire crews responded to the scene. He says the building was empty at the time and no one was injured.

Locals did rescue a dog from the burning building.

Officials are still investigating how the blaze started.
