TOPEKA, Kan (WIBW)-- A health advisory is still in effect for areas around Deer Creek and Dornwood Park.
Wednesday afternoon an unknown quantity of sewage was discharged into Deer Creek due to a blocked sanitary sewage interceptor.
Officials are advising people, especially children and pets, to stay away from the creek until the advisory is lifted.
The area infected includes Deer Creek between SE 29th and SE 21st streets and specifically Dornwood Park.
An official with water pollution told 13 News they are evaluating the situation, but he did say the stoppage has been cleared.
