TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-Topekans had a fun time testing their mental and physical strength in the DART and DARTini race in the heart of the capital city.
Teams huddled up and made a mad dash around downtown Topeka for the Downtown Adventure Race Topeka.
Participants competed with reality television stars from Big Brother, Amazing Race, and Survivor and say they are pumped up to be involved in this multi-leg race.
"How excited are we? Wooo! we are really excited," says Mandy Szechanski and her teammates.
Each team picks a clue out of a bag and completes a variety of
fun challenges from solving celebrity puzzles to bed racing through a parking lot.
"It's kind of Amazing Race/Survivor meets Topeka, Kansas, and it's just a lot of fun and a great way to see our downtown," says Szechanski.
38 teams are participating in the event. "It's high adrenaline, and it's fun. There's so much laughter, there's just a lot of humor built into the race. There's frustration when you don't actually read the clues," says Shelly Lowery, organizer.
The race tested participants' problem solving skills and physical endurance all in hopes to win a trophy, raise money for the non-profit organization, Let's Help, and to create memories that last a lifetime.
"We will hear stories from today for the next 5 years, I'm sure," says Lowery.
Entry fees were 35 dollars a person with all proceeds benefiting the Let's Help organization.
The corporate challenge winner wins a $5,000 marketing package from WIBW to donate to a charity of their choice.
