TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- Fire crews responded Tuesday to a bedroom fire in the Montara neighborhood of Topeka.
Police dispatch confirmed that crews were in route to an address in the 7100 block of Woodcroft just after 1:00 p.m.
When Shawnee Heights fire crews arrived smoke could be seen coming from the a front door of the duplex style home. Firefighters entered the residence and located fire in a bedroom.
Crews were able to quickly extinguish the flames and began ventilating the structure, according to Battalion Chief Scott Brice.
An exact cause of the fire was under investigation Tuesday afternoon.
The home suffered some damage from fire and smoke. The adjoining unit of the duplex was unharmed, according to crews on scene.
