GEARY COUNTY, Kan. (WIBW) - After a four day search, the body of a 65 year-old Salina man was recovered from Milford Lake on Wednesday. The Geary Co. Sheriff's Office said Stephen Edwards body was spotted around 4:30 p.m.
A fisherman spotted his body after it surfaced near the search area while rescue crews were refueling their boats.
Edwards was fishing with his grandson and another man Sunday morning when one of their fishing poles fell into the lake. Edwards leaped in after it, but never resurfaced.
Geary Co. deputies were in the area when emergency crews were called in and they were able to respond within minutes. Authorities said the rocky underwater terrain was making it harder for them to locate his body.
The Mission Township dive team was among those that assisted in the search effort that included boats equipped with side scan sonor and dragging equipment.
