Couture For Cancer Adds Design Competition For 10th Year

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Area fashionistas are crafting one-of-a-kind creations for the fight against cancer.

Jess and Rosie's boutique, 5633 SW 21st, hosted a preview event Monday for the 10th annual Couture for Cancer. The evening included the announcement of the "Project Couture" competition.

The event is a play off the Project Runway television show. Four Topeka area designers will use specific embellishments to glam up a plain white blouse. One week before the April 12th Couture for Cancer event, the public will be able to vote online for their favorite. The winner will be announced at the event, with all four blouses auctioned to benefit the American Cancer Society.

The designers are:
Zoe Schumm, founder and designer of 4 All Humanity
Erin Sethen, technical illustrator and graphic designer for The Sewing Workshop Pattern Collection
Vaness Rias, honor student and aspiring designer
Martha Bartlett Piland, President/CEO of MB Piland Advertising

Couture for Cancer is April 12th at Heartland Park Topeka. Event information and tickets are available at
