Court Date Set For Woman Charged With Striking Young Bicyclist

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- A preliminary hearing is set for a motorist charged with hitting a 12-year-old Shawnee County girl who was riding a bicycle.

Rebecca Horting is scheduled to be in court next on April 11th. Horting was charged November 14th with one count of aggravated battery-knowingly causing great bodily harm. During a preliminary hearing, prosecutors present evidence for a judge determine if there is probable cause to proceed to trial.

Rylee Robinson was riding her bicycle in May 2013 on the gravel shoulder in the 5200 block of SW Topeka Boulevard when she was hit from behind by a vehicle.

Rylee was seriously injured. She recently returned home from a rehabilitation hospital where she was recovering.
