County Commissioners Approve Purchase Of Security Gate

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- County Commissioners approved the an emergency purchase of security gate at the Shawnee County Jail.

Department of Corrections Director Brian Cole told commissioners, on November 26th a refuse truck hit the rod iron security gate at the Shawnee County Jail.

Estimated cost to replace the security gate is $19,000. The counties insurance deductible will pick-up the remaining $9,000.

The present gate will be replaced by a more cost efficient manual gate.
