TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - The Topeka City Council will hold a public hearing at its meeting Tuesday on a request to create a special tax district to finance a $22 million retail development on SW Wanamaker Road.
The development, known as Crosswinds Common, would be built near 12th and Wanamaker.
It's currently home to a building that houses Factory Direct Appliance, Orschelns and Discovery Furniture.
The owners, listed as "Win LLC," want the 13.26 acre - area established as a community improvement district.
It would provide for construction, maintenance and improvements such as infrastructure, buildings, landscaping, lighting, signage and tenant improvements.
The proposed project would cost $22.6 million dollars. The money would come through a one percent community improvement district sales tax and special obligation bonds.
