TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - A 55-year-old Topeka man is jailed in Bates County, Missouri after being arrested on five counts of aggravated rape.
The Metropolitan Police Department says Robert Lile traveled to Nashville with his 14-year-old client last Saturday so she could perform in a talent showcase.
While staying in a hotel, Lile allegedly pulled a knife out and repeatedly raped the girl for several hours after threatening to kill her. The molestation allegedly continued on Sunday as the two drove through Nashville.
Lile then returned to the hotel, packed up his belongings and went to the home of a relative in Butler, Missouri. The girl was left behind, and officers found her in the hotel after she had contacted her parents.
The Bates County Sheriff's Office says detectives set up surveillance at a family member's residence on Monday and confirmed that Lile was inside the house. When Lile left the home and walked towards his car, officers arrested him and took him into custody without incident.
The Metropolitan Police report that Lile met the girl last July when he was a judge in a Kansas talent show.
Lile was convicted in Kansas of aggravated kidnapping, rape, and sodomy involving a high school girl in 1983.
