TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)__An escaped Shawnee County Jail inmate has been apprehended.
A Department of Corrections spokesperson tells 13 News that 25-year-old David Kerth was taken into custody by Topeka Police Officers.
Several agencies had been on the lookout for Kerth, who escaped early Sunday from Shawnee County Jail custody while on a work release program.
Kerth is a convicted felon who served time in 2007 for a Douglas County robbery. He came to the Kansas Department of Corrections February of 2012 on a probation violation.
With Kerth's release date scheduled for January 29th of 2014 the Kansas Department of Corrections contracted Kerth into a work release program with the Shawnee County Jail.
