MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) - Members of the Department of Homeland Security visited Manhattan Friday morning with a tour of the National Bio and Agro Defense Facility construction site.
Senators Jerry Moran and Pat Roberts, as well First District Congressman Tim Huelskamp were also on hand for the tour.
While more funding remains necessary for the project, Senator Moran says NBAF is going to happen, and it’s up to Congress to make sure of that.
"Having the support of the secretary and his boss the secretary at the Department of Homeland Security it’s been very helpful," said Moran. "This has been a republican and democrat effort. This has been and administration and congress effort. And the problem is not NBAF and the amount of money that needs to be spent. As I say, that conclusion has been reached."
Dr. Reginald Brothers, who serves as Under Secretary for the Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology Directorate, was one of the dignitaries on hand.
